Dennis D. Sylva, "The Temple Curtain and Jesus' Death in the Gospel of Luke," JBL 105 (1986): 239-250. **

Sylva makes the case that Luke's re-positioning of the Markan account of the (post-mordem) tearing of the temple curtain to before Jesus' death, and Luke's substitution of a direct address to God in the place of the Markan Jesus' inarticulate cry, together serve to present an image of Jesus' communion, at the last moment before his death, with the Father who dwelt in the temple.

Articulate.
