John Nolland, "Impressed Unbelievers as Witnesses to Christ (Luke 4:22a)," JBL 98 (1979): 219-229.
Nolland argues that Luke demonstrates the impact of Jesus' and his ministry by narrating the crowd's amazement at his teachings. Nolland concludes that Luke intended his readers to accept the general amazement at Jesus as a viable witness to His extra-ordinary person and message and to share with Jesus enemies the amazement at the wonderfulness of Jesus' words, but to respond in faith.
Weak on Christological implications.
